Efficiently organizing your products is essential for business success, especially when managing multiple variants like colors and sizes. The Item Groups feature in Zoho Inventory streamlines this process, allowing you to add and manage product variants in a single step. This not only saves time but also ensures consistency and accuracy across your inventory. This guide will walk you through the steps to utilize the Item Groups feature, helping you simplify your inventory process and focus on growing your business.
How to Create an Item Group in Zoho Inventory
1. From the left sidebar, go to Inventory and select Item Groups.
2. Click New Item Group or + New at the top-right to create a new item group.
3. Choose either Goods or Services for the item group type.
4. Enter the item group name.
5. If items in this group are returnable, check the Returnable Item option.
6. Select or add a Unit of Measurement (Unit) for the item group.
7. If item categories are enabled, assign a category by choosing an existing one or adding a new category.
8. Choose a Tax Preference, which will apply to all items in the group.
9. Add *attributes and options for the item group. Variant names will be generated automatically based on the group name and attributes, and you can modify them as needed.
10. Select whether the items in this group are inventory or non-inventory type.
11. Enter the SKU for each item, or use the Generate SKU option to create them automatically.
12. Enter the Cost Price and Selling Price. To apply the same values to all items, click Copy To All.
13. If applicable, add product codes such as UPC (Universal Product Code), EAN (International Article Number), or ISBN (International Standard Book Number) in the respective fields.
14. Set up the Sales, Purchase, and Inventory accounts for the item group.
15. Click Save and Next to proceed.
16. Enter the Opening Stock and Opening Stock Value for each warehouse for all variants, then click Save to create the item group.
*Adding Attributes and Options
1. To create a single item instead of a group, uncheck the Add Attributes and Options box, which is enabled by default, and proceed.
2. In the pop-up window, select the To create a single item, proceed to the Items section option. The main information from the item group page will automatically transfer to the New Item page.
3. If you decide to create an item group, enter an attribute and list relevant options separated by commas. To add another attribute, click + New Attribute. You can add up to three attributes per item group.
4. Alterative names will be generated automatically based on the item group name and attributes. You can edit or remove them as needed.
